Office Hours are 8:45 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.
Court is held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 P.M in the Town Hall Assembly Room (except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Thursday, October 9th, 2008 in observance of Yom Kippur).
Civil Trials and Small Claims are scheduled the first and third Wednesdays of each month, at 7:30 p.m.
The town justices, Douglas M. Kraus and David S. Zuckerman, preside alternately, and are elected to four-year terms.

Small Claims Actions/Civil Suit
If your claim is in the sum of $3,000. or less and the defendant resides in, has a place of business in, or is employed within the municipal limits of the Town of New Castle, you may use the Justice Court of New Castle. Application for Small Claims Action and/or Application for Civil Action are available from this Web site using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The cost of filing a Small Claim is as follows:
$10.00 – Filing fee to the Court (for claims up to and including $1,000.)
$15.00 – Filing fee to the Court (for claims over $1,000. up to and including $3,000)
$20.00 – Civil Court Filing Fee*
* It is the responsibility of the plaintiff to prepare the paperwork and have it served.
Fees are payable at the time of filing. Small Claim/Civil Actions are heard on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
If your claim is settled prior to the hearing date, both parties must notify the Court, in writing. If your claim proceeds, you must be prepared at the time of the hearing to prove your claim. This mandates that all evidence and witnesses must be present as scheduled.
No adjournments are granted unless both parties consent in writing.
Vehicle & Traffic
Traffic Infractions (non-criminal) may be answered by mail. Please enter your plea in appropriate box on summons and mail to Court by the date on the summons.
If you are pleading GUILTY, you will be sent a Fine letter. Fines may be paid by Cash, Money Order, or Certified Check ONLY.
If you are pleading NOT GUILTY, you will receive a notice with your TRIAL DATE.

Parking Tickets
If you wish to contest a parking ticket, you must appear before the Court on the date indicated on the front of the ticket at 7:30 P.M.
Certificate of Disposition
Will be provided at the cost of $5.00 for each original copy.
